ACS_3219.JPG

Ingredients

Scones:

1 ¾ cups flour

1/3 cup sugar

2 teaspoon baking powder

½ teaspoon salt

1 stick unsalted butter, cold and cubed

1/3 cup dark chocolate chips

½ cup orange juice

Glaze:

1 cup powdered sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla bean paste or extract

3-4 tablespoons orange juice

PREP TIME: 10 MINutes | COOK TIME: 10-12 MINutes | SERVINGS: 1 dozen

1.Preheat oven to 400. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or silpat and set aside.

2 In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder and salt. With a pastry blender or fork cut in the butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in the chocolate chips. Add the orange juice.

3. Work the dough until it comes together, add a touch of orange juice if mixture is too dry. (I use my hands and not a spoon). Turn dough out onto a lightly floured surface. Roll dough out into about a 9 inch circle and 1 inch thick.

4. Take a pizza cutter and cut the dough into 8 slices. Transfer scones to baking sheet.

5. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until scones are cooked through and barely golden. Don't over-cook them!  Once done move to wire racks to cool.

6. While scones are cooling, make the glaze. Whisk together powdered sugar, vanilla and orange juice until smooth. Drizzle over cooled scones. Store in air-tight container once glaze has set.

Enjoy y'all!
